Starting from version 2023.1, IPTC Photo Metadata Standard includes specialized fields to communicate permissions regarding data mining and the use of images for AI/ML training.

With Macula, you can easily manage these permissions, they will always be clearly stated for your images shared online:

When sharing the image, Macula automatically sets the default option to Prohibited, indicated by the appropriate icon. You can also set the preferred option yourself, selecting from the drop-down list (see the section below for all available options).

The pickaxe icon is a quick way to signal the permissions to everyone who visits your UniLink Preview page. Clicking on this icon reveals additional information.

Specifying data mining permissions in Macula

Just like the licensing terms, you can specify data mining permissions when sharing an image with Macula:

  1. Open the image you want to share.
  2. If you haven’t created a transformation yet, create one.
  3. Choose the transformation and click Publish.
  4. Select the licensing terms and the data mining permissions.
  5. Publish and share your image with the world!
